"On October 7th, at 6:29 AM, everything I knew about life changed."
Hi, I'm Shahar Horovitz. I'm 24 years old and a second-year Reichman University student at the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science and the Adelson School of Entrepreneurship.
The Nova music festival began as a night full of joy—music, friends, laughter, and love. It was supposed to be the highlight of my year. But within moments, everything turned into a nightmare.
I found myself running for my life, alongside thousands of others, confused and terrified—but with one clear goal: to make it home.
That night changed me forever. Returning home, I had to face trauma, grief, and uncertainty. But I also discovered inner strength I never knew I had. I knew I had to keep going.
Three weeks later, I started writing. It became my way to process and heal. Six months later, I realized I had written a book—a story that resonated with many others.
That book became "We Were the Sun", a novel about resilience, growth, and hope. It follows Naia, a young woman on her post-army journey, through the events of the Nova party and beyond. While it's fiction, it tells the collective story of my generation—the Nova Generation.
I made a choice—to live, to keep learning, to keep creating. Routine and action helped rebuild my world. Perspective changed everything.
