RRIS Student Spotlight-Menachem Mendle

Meet Menachem Mendle, a 26-year-old student and former Sayeret Nahal soldier who made Aliyah seven years ago with a mission: to serve in the IDF. After completing his service, Menachem came to study at the Reichman University campus but has been on the front lines since the start of the war—spending months in Gaza and continuing his commitment to the army.

Despite the challenges of his demanding reserve service, Menachem made the selfless decision to step away from the battlefield and serve as a Raphael Recanati International School student counselor during orientation week. His time as a counselor, right after coming out of Gaza, was emotionally challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. He shared: "It was difficult to transition from such intense experiences to guiding young students, but it was an amazing opportunity to give back and help them move forward."

Menachem is now in his second year studying Government and Counter-Terrorism at the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy, and Strategy and is incredibly grateful for the support he's received from both the university and the community. As one of only 25 students to receive a scholarship from La'Aretz, he’s thankful for the opportunity to pursue his education while continuing to serve.

Thank you, Menachem, for your unwavering dedication, resilience, and leadership. Your efforts both on the frontlines and in the classroom inspire us all.
