The first cohort of the Dina Recanati School of Medicine

Reichman University is proud to announce the opening of the first cohort of the Dina Recanati School of Medicine and congratulates our students on starting their fascinating journey in the medical profession.

The medical school is designed to change the face of medical education in Israel, with an innovative curriculum that combines advanced technology and a multidisciplinary approach. The opening event included a white coat ceremony where the students received their white doctor's coats and swore to maintain professional ethics and dedication to patients. The ceremony symbolizes the beginning of the student's clinical studies and their commitment to the values of the medical profession.

The Dina Recanati School of Medicine at Reichman University was named by the school's benefactors, the Dina and Raphael Recanati Family Foundation. The school's establishment is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the leading healthcare organizations in Israel: Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center, Rabin Medical Center, Clalit Health Services, and Maccabi Health Services. The source of the joint initiative is the recognition of the growing shortage of doctors and the need to work together to ensure the residents of Israel a proper medical response in the years to come.

Minister of Education Yoav Kisch said: "The opening of the first class at the medical school at Reichman University is a significant step to strengthen the health system in Israel. The shortage of doctors is a national challenge and we must respond by expanding the medical training courses. I am especially proud to see that about 50% of the students in the first cohort are reservists, who have devoted many months to the defense of the country since October 7." Prof. Uriel Reichman, the founding president and chairman of the Reichman University Board of Directors, added: "October 7th also taught us about the importance of Israeli unity and cooperation to face the national challenges. We are here, in a rare collaboration of the leading health bodies in Israel, creating a center of excellence. Our medical school will combine the independent and entrepreneurial spirit of Reichman University with the glorious tradition of Israeli medicine, that has made a name for itself worldwide."
