June News and Updates from AFORU

Dear Friends, Parents, and Alumni

As you read through our June newsletter and see the many exciting year-end activities taking place across Reichman University, I hope you will take special note of a remarkable milestone: the 20th Anniversary of the Israel at Heart Outstanding Ethiopian Students Program.

When I joined the American Friends in 2007, it was the very first year of what would become one of the University's most transformative initiatives. At the time, we believed deeply in the potential of these remarkable young people, but none of us could have fully imagined the extraordinary impact the program would have on so many lives.

Today, it fills me with tremendous pride to see graduates of the program become leaders in their fields, earning prestigious honors, receiving Rhodes Scholarships, attending top graduate schools—including Harvard—and serving as inspiring examples of what can be achieved when talent is matched with opportunity. Their success is the result of the vision, dedication, and generosity of many individuals.

For the past two decades, Jonathan Davis has worked tirelessly to champion this program, sharing its story with donors and supporters worldwide and ensuring that students receive not only financial assistance but also the mentorship, opportunities, and support needed to thrive.

I would also like to recognize Joey Low, whose vision and generosity helped launch the program in its earliest days. Joey believed in these students from the very beginning and has remained a steadfast supporter ever since. Through his leadership and introductions to many of his friends and fellow philanthropists, the program has grown and flourished, creating life-changing opportunities for hundreds of young Israelis of Ethiopian descent.

As we celebrate this important anniversary, we are reminded that philanthropy is about far more than funding programs—it is about investing in people, unlocking potential, and empowering future generations. The achievements of these students over the past twenty years stand as a powerful testament to that vision.

I hope you enjoy this newsletter and join me in celebrating the incredible accomplishments of the students, alumni, faculty, and supporters who make Reichman University such a special place.

As always, we welcome the opportunity to connect with you.

If you are in New York next week, I hope you will join President Boaz Ganor and Jonathan Davis, Vice President for External Relations and Head of the Raphael Recanati International School, on Tuesday, June 23rd, for a special evening with members of the Reichman University community.

And if your travels take you to Israel, I encourage you to visit our beautiful campus and experience firsthand the energy, innovation, and extraordinary students who make Reichman University so unique.

We look forward to welcoming you.

With gratitude,

Leslie
