The Argov Fellows Program in Leadership and Diplomacy traveled to Taiwan for a fascinating delegation organized in collaboration with Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Argov Program aims to train Israel’s next generation of leaders by combining in-depth theoretical knowledge with practical tools in the international arena. The goal of the delegation was to gain firsthand exposure to Taiwan’s complex geopolitical situation, deepen our understanding of its history, culture, and challenges, and lay the groundwork for future cooperation between Israel and Taiwan.

During the delegation, Reichman University and Raphael Recanati International School students explored Taiwan’s security, innovation, and policy landscape; met with senior representatives from the National Security Council, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan’s cyber defense unit, and visited the national semiconductor industry—one of the most important economic powerhouses in the world. They also met with young ambassadors and held a meaningful meeting with Israel’s representative in Taiwan, Maya Yaron.
In addition to the diplomatic meetings, the fellows took the time to learn about Taiwan’s rich history, culture, and heritage—and of course, enjoy the unique local cuisine. From the other side of the world, they were surprised to discover just how much Taiwan and Israel share—in spirit, in challenges, and in the will to collaborate. This was an enriching, inspiring experience, hopeful for a shared future.
